Thermostats for Electric Underfloor Heating

A thermostat lets you maintain the right temperature and automatically control the operation of the heating system. Combined with a heating film or mat, it gives the user control over the heating without having to constantly switch the system on and off manually.

Comfortable Temperature When You Need It

Precise regulation allows the temperature to be matched to how the room is used and to the household's preferences. Depending on the model chosen, it is also possible to create schedules so the heating operates according to a set daily or weekly plan.

Better Control Over Energy Consumption

Proper control reduces heating operation at times when a high temperature is not needed. Automatic regulation and scheduling help make more efficient use of energy while maintaining the expected thermal conditions in the room.

The Perfect Complement to Heating Films and Mats

TERMOFOL thermostats are designed to control electric heating systems and work excellently with underfloor heating based on heating films and mats. Controlling the floor temperature makes it possible to properly manage the operation of the entire system.

From Simple Controls to Smart Solutions

The range includes thermostats with various operating methods — from simple manual models to programmable devices with extensive control options. Wi-Fi variants are also available, allowing convenient heating management from a smartphone.

Frequently Asked Questions

The thermostat does not respond to touch

First, check the thermostat's user manual. The cause may be an active child lock, which prevents settings from being changed using the buttons or the touch panel.

An active lock is usually indicated by a padlock or key symbol shown on the display. The way to disable it depends on the thermostat model and is described in the device's user manual.

The heating symbol is flashing on the thermostat

A flashing heating symbol usually means that the floor overheat protection has activated. With a correctly performed installation, this is not a sign of a fault.

The thermostat switches off the heating when the temperature read by the floor sensor reaches the set maximum value. Once the floor has cooled and the temperature drops below this value, the heating will be automatically switched back on.

Example:

If the maximum floor temperature has been set to 28°C, the thermostat will switch off the heating once this temperature is reached. When the floor temperature drops, e.g. to 27°C, the thermostat will switch the heating back on.

Do thermostats differ in how they are wired?

Most thermostats are wired in a similar way: the supply cables are connected to the power terminals, and the cables leading to the heating installation are connected to the load output, usually marked L1 and N1.

The exception is the TF-H7 model, which is equipped with a potential-free (dry) contact.

A potential-free contact works like a switch — it does not supply its own voltage. The thermostat simply closes or opens the control circuit. This solution allows control of the phase conductor supplying the heating film, or of an external actuating device, e.g. a contactor.

When a potential-free contact is used, the neutral conductor N must be routed directly to the load, bypassing the thermostat.

What is the maximum power that thermostats can handle?

The maximum power of a heating installation that can be connected directly to the thermostat is 3000 W for all thermostat models.

If the total installation power exceeds 3000 W, it must not be connected directly to the thermostat. A contactor sized for the load should be used, or the installation should be divided into smaller, independently controlled heating zones with a larger number of thermostats.

How can I buy an "NTC 10 kΩ" floor sensor?

A floor sensor is included with every thermostat and is supplied in its packaging.

If the sensor is damaged, a suitable replacement can be purchased through our listings.

What type of box do thermostats fit?

Most thermostats are designed for installation in a standard flush-mounted electrical box.

The exception is the TF-H2 model, which is a surface-mounted thermostat and does not require installation in a flush-mounted box.

The app cannot find the thermostat or heater

Before adding a device to the app, switch it into Wi-Fi pairing mode.

The way to start pairing mode may vary depending on the device model. Follow the user manual — the device usually indicates active pairing mode with a flashing Wi-Fi icon or an appropriate message on the display.

When adding a device, it is recommended to select the "Add manually" option in the app. This configuration method is usually more reliable than automatic device search.

You should also check that the phone is connected to the Wi-Fi network the thermostat or heater is meant to work with.

What type of external sensor do thermostats support?

Thermostats support an external NTC 10 kΩ temperature sensor.

What should I do if the thermostat does not start up?

If the thermostat does not turn on, the first step should be to check the power supply — verify that voltage is reaching the device, that no protection device has tripped in the distribution board, and that the supply cables are correctly connected. If the thermostat still does not respond after checking the power supply, further diagnostics should be carried out by a qualified electrician.

Types of Heating Mats. An Overview of TERMOFOL Systems for Indoor and Outdoor Applications

Heating mats today are much more than just underfloor heating for bathrooms. A few years ago, most investors associated heating mats solely with comfortable underfloor heating installed beneath ceramic tiles. Today, the market looks completely different. How to Choose a Heating Mat for a Room? A Practical Guide

Choosing the right heating mat is more important than many investors realize. The selection of an appropriate heating mat should not be based solely on the area of the room. In practice, other factors also play a significant role: the heating function, type of flooring, insulation standard of the building, actual heating area, and the way the interior is used. That is why a well-chosen underfloor heating system operates comfortably, efficiently, and energy-saving for many years […]

Installation of Heating Mats Step by Step – Can You Do It Yourself?

Modern underfloor heating without complicated renovations. A few years ago, installing underfloor heating was mainly associated with major renovations, thick screeds, and complicated hydraulic installations. Today, modern heating mats allow for comfortable underfloor heating to be installed much faster and significantly less invasively. It is the simplicity of installation that has made electric heating mats very popular: during renovations […]

Heating Mats in Different Types of Properties – Where Do They Make the Most Sense?

Termofol Expert: “Today, heating mats are chosen not only for comfort but primarily for the simplicity and flexibility of the entire system.” Just a few years ago, heating mats were mainly considered an additional solution — most often for bathrooms. Today, from the market perspective, it is clear that their role has significantly changed. Investors increasingly view electric underfloor heating as a conscious element of modern construction, rather than just a comfortable addition.
